How To Disable Registry Restriction

Disable Registry Editing Restriction

When you are on someone's PC or on your friends PC you try to frustrate your friend by doing something in registry and you have also done sometimes but if your friend or the owner of that machine is bit wise, then when you try to open registry a pop up message opens saying that "Registry Editing has been disabled by your  administrator". Now what you will do. Here is a trick to open that lock.

Follow the below steps:

Method 1 - Using REG.EXE Console Tool

1.  Goto Run and type

REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableRegistryTools /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Method 2 - Using Group Policy

1. Click Start, Run and Type gpedit.msc , Press Enter.

2. Locate Following Location

User Configuration | Administrative Templates | System

3. Double Click on Registry Editing Tools and set it to Not Configured.

Note: If the setting already reads Not Configured, set it to Enabled, and click Apply. Then revert it back to Not Configured. This ensures that the DisableRegistryTools registry value is removed successfully.
